> For the best AK out of the box, the SLR-95 (or the non-mentioned older brother of the SLR, the SA-93) is the obvious choice. If you want to pay 2x or 3x as much, you can outfit yourself with the 'better' copies of the AK like the Polytech Legend, GAlil, Valmet, or VEPR. But, for the best AK OVERALL the $500-600 SLR has the best fit and finish, very clear action cycling, and is by far more accurate than any Norinco, or Maadi, or post ban Hungarians and Romanians. Anyone that has shot most of the AK copies can tell you that. You may not like the boring gas block, or the dorky brake on it, but the SA-93 has the original look of the AK (except for the cleaning rod that many of you out there tend to put such an emphasis on!!!!) and is just as nice as the SLR. Oh...'but you can't put aftermarket stocks on them easily'....What about all of the incredibly beautiful and practical stocks that are made in Bulgaria that slip on the Bulgarian AK's very nicely......? For price out of the box and the primary issue of accuracy, the SLR/SA is the obvious choice.
