does the AK-74 type muzzle comp direct muzzle noise back towards shooter?

I want to install a threaded 74 style comp on a romanian AK-47, but a comp on a browning I shot really
increased the noise, I don't want to use hearing protection to shoot, the AK isn't that loud now,but?
