I'm looking to stock up on several cases of 7.62 ammo and want the best. Any recommendations? Could someone provide info about the quality, reliability, corrosiveness and date of manufacture of ammo? I currently have 3-makes of 7.62x39. My Russian ammo is, TCW 122 grain hollow-point, Berdan primed, "non-corrosive", steel case -- headstamp isn't helpful and just says "TCW 7.62x39. I have no idea how old the Russian manufactured ammunition is. It could be decades old, and could have lost much of its original power. I have some nice Sellier & Bellot Full Point No. 2907, Berdan primed, "non-corrosive, non-erosive", and again no help from the headstamp with S&B 7.62x39. Finally, I have some "East German" 123 grain, Full Metal Jacket, Lead Core Bullet, Berdan-primed, steel case with headstamp "22-80". But I thought East German 7.62x39 had headstamps with "04-xx" or "05-xx". I thought that Romanian ammo has headstamp "22-xx", but these are in a box labelled "Made in Germany." Finally, though I have none, I hear that South African 7.62x39 is good, accurate and truly non-corrosive. If you have favorite 7.62x39 that is accurate, reliable, non-corrosive and not too old, I'm anxious to hear about it. Any advice will help. Thank you. HangFire |
