Now that I've got all my parts lined up and will have my AK74 rebarreled soon, I've got one last barrier to get around--figuring out what sort of finish would be best for my revitalized gun. The guy doing the work for me also parkerizes and suggested that as a finish. It's better than blueing, right? I told him I was thinking about using J. Norrell's Moly Resin Professional Firearms Finish after I got my gun back. Then he said he also would spray a moly coat from Brownell's over the parkerized finish. I'm not worried about an authentic military AK74 look. So, has anyone had experience with either of the moly coats I mentioned? Apparantly, the Norrell's finish is used by military subcontractors. I'm leaning toward it for that reason. Should I get the gun parkerized instead? If I get it parkerized, would it be worth the extra metal protection to get one of the moly coats put on over it? Let me know what you think...
