I guess its human nature to want what you cant have. I own a 74, but its Romanian and Russian rifles just seem to define what a 74 should be. I am not going to get uptight over the correct (russian) placement of each rivet. However there are a couple things I want to change. Thanks to many fine posts I feel well informed on the muzzle break issue. But what can be done about the gas block? I understand that the Russians and Bulgarian blocks will not fit. Could anything be made to fit? Will the blocks holes line up with the hole in the barrel? If you could get the block on the barrel, how will the block line up with the gas tube? Would the fit be long or short? If the fit is to short could you add a tube extension? Would this effect reliability? Does any one own a Stock Options stock set? I understand they make a finned forend, kind of a russian copy. Are there products well made? Do they make a buttstock with a 74 type grove in it? Does anyone have there number? Lastly where can I find red or black 30rd russian mag's? This is my first post of any kind, so dont poke fun if I didnt do it right.
