AKM difference from AK-47

I'd always thought AKM's were just short-barreled versions of AK-47's. After checking out some of the photos on this site, I'm not so sure...

Could someone explain to me the difference between an AK-47 & an AKM?

AK47 are the early AK's mid 50's AK Modified (hince AKM) with new features most notably a stamped receiver & smaller front sight. :-) 01:51:50 1/07/99 (0)
