On the subject of the Hesse model 47, it was originally a saiga hunting rifle that was reconverted to the AKM pistol grip configuration by Hesse (actually I think they sub it out to a shop). The Saiga rifle is essentially a AK-century series that Izhmash converted to this "hunting rifle" configuration in order to be able to sell it into the US as a 100% russian made gun. I.e. no high cap mag, no pistol grip, no flash suppressor. In order for Hesse to be able to convert it back into an AK-103, they had to replace certain components with US made parts in order to comply with our assault weapon laws. I own a Saiga 7.62 and its a fine plinker. |
