New rear site

Yesterday with the information from Packrat about removing the rear site I stared working on my rifle at home. I actually mounted the new plastic rear site that can be adjusted for windage. My wife ever helped me as holding that metal piece down while trying to place in the site was impossible. Now I must assume that I must resite in the rifle and I hope to have better luck then just adjusting the front site. I have also received my third site adjustment tool for the front site and will keep it but pray that it does not need to be used. Tapco sold me the new plastic site but said that it is for a RPK rifle but will work on a AK74. I noticed that the range markings are different that the original rear metal site. I have just gotten the rifle cleaned and have taken off the bipod. If anyone wants a picture send me your email and I will email you the pic. The rifle looks good and I feel that it is a good weapon for self defense and in fact might be on the side of overkill but then again I want to be on the other side of overkill and not come up short in any possible gun battle.
Thus, it looks like this Labor Day weekend I just might be heading back to the range for more shooting. I also have a second scope from Tapco as I had a spare scope mount and I only paid $14 for the new scope as Tapco was having a close out sale. The new scope appears to be well worth the money. The other Russian scope is already sited in real good. Since early May this rifle of mine has gotten more time and attention then I ever wanted but now I feel that it is almost 100% completed. I still lack a sound surpressor which would lower the noice of firing but understand that that is a controlled item unfortunally. If anyone wants to meet I just might be going to a big shooting meet at Knob Creek,KY on October 8th thue the 10th. I would like to shoot against other AK74 owners and to compair notes and experiences. It is too bad the assult weapons have gotten bad press but just recently a woman got killed in a parking lot in Warminister, PA buy some nut who did not ever know her. It was by a handgun. Earier a 12 year old girl stabbed another woman in Philadelphia and the girl was such a metal case that she did not ever know what she was doing. The crime problem is beyond me to solve but I do feel that if things got real bad I would just carry my AK74 around and that would keep me safe. At Knob Creek,KY I understand that you can rent a machinegun and if I see a full auto AK74 I just might rent it for the day to see how it compares with my rifle. I still feel accuracy of shooting is better that "spray and pray" unless you are real close and they have the draw on you. I wonder if a head shot is better or going for the heart area? Also, I will be needing to get more ammo and was debating Woff ammo or ammo from Classic Arms. Are they the same? Well I will get off now and continue with my day. I feel God will bless me as I now have a nice AK74.
