I recently picked up a Russian TIGER and have some questions. Mine came with the black plastic (non-slotted) handguards, SVD buttstock (dark red,ox blood color), black leather covered cheekrest, PSO-1 scope with accessories and Russian batteries, and no flash hider. The importer is Century Arms, 1994 and I gave $1100 for it. Condition is new and obviously unfired. I have read all of the posts on this board and others about the SVDs and TIGERS however I have a few questions to those of you who are more experienced.
Did Russian SVDs have the lighter reddish/blond colored handguards and buttstocks or were they the dark red color? Also, did the early import TIGERS come with these dark red SVD buttstocks, black leather cheek rests, and flash hiders? I have seen some TIGERS with the same wood handguards and buttstocks that can be found on the Chinese Dragunovs. The wood sets may look good but are they correct for a TIGER?
And finally, where can I purchase the original flash hider AND the original military SVD black handguards with the slots on each side? E-mail is tc@openlines.com
