If you own a SVD there is a design problem with both units either the. 308 or the 54r. Yes even the 54r rifles will blow up like the. 308's. Not having a sring loaded firing pin is just not good when it come to safty. The CDNN spring loaded firing pins will fail as noted below, in a few cases the spring blew out and locked the pin in the forward most position defeating the retrofit intent altogether. I have been fortunate to offer the correct Russian Spring-Loaded Firing Pin assemblies to the members of the board. I have also retrofitted these for owners of Russian and. 308 SVD's that have the free floating firing pins in their bolts by correctly sizing and milling the bolts. I cannot get the pins anymore so if you are considering correcting this problem I can only do this for a few more owners rifles. Also I am doing the same thing for the Yugo M76 rifles too. The CDNN retofits are not done correctly and the bolts were cut/drilled incorrectly, the correct assembly will help tighten up the slop inside the bolt and is a quick turn-around. If you are interested please e-mail me. Unfortunately for many there will be fewer correct conversions then the total amount imported. Thanks to everyone who posted their happines with the quality of the work provided. |
