Hey guys for those interested I had a chance to test and plain use one the Russian 8x42 scopes Scott is selling. These are similar to the PSO-1 and mount ontot he siderail the same. Optics are good, and the field of view is very large. Adjustments were positive and repeatable. The magnification seems right on for the purpose of the rifle. Hits at 300 yards and past are much easier than with the 4x. Ranging was easy. I tried to range people out to a lil over 600 meters and it was quick and easy. Verification was made with a laser rangefinder. If someone is looking to upgrade their optics for long range shooting I would recommend one. I also had a chance to test one of Bill K.'s battery adaptors. As he says they are well made from nylon and brass, simple rugged and reliable. I like it as it allows easy use of the Winter battery supply. Right now it is 10 degrees F here in Maine and batteries go dead much faster than normal. We are allowed to night hunt coyotes here, so illuminated reticles and night vision mounted on a rifle is quite handy. After using both the 8x42 and battery adapter I can recommend both of them as well worth the money. Take care
