Scott was kind enough to send me one of the 8x42 scopes he is selling that are posted below. I am quite impressed. It is based on the good ol PSO-1 but has a 42mm objective lens, AND the rear tube is MUCH larger than on a PSO-1,about 30mm, and the ocular lens is a little different. FOV is very large, optical clarity is good and acuity was quite good. The glass in this scope is pretty good, I was surprised. WHile it is not as bright as my I.O.R. 2.5x10x42 Tactical........it costs about a third as much, and frankly Leupold's aren't as bright either. BDC is calibrated out to 800 meters, one unnumbered click takes you out to 850 meters and then their are hold over points on the reticle for 900, 1000, 1100, 1200 meters. Reticle is of the military pattern with the chevron (carrot) aiming point with 10 mil marks to either side. These mil marks are used for rangegfinding, windage corrections, and for leading moving targets. The choke style range finder has been modified as AKEXPERT said to range 1.5 and .5 meter targets. This Tactically is an improvement. As the lines run parallel you actually have 1.5, 1, and .5 meter heights. Use the 1 meter height and bracket from belt buckle to head and read range, dial into BDC and fire. For a prone figure use the .5 meter line, dial into BDC and fire. Not many people kicking around 1.7 meters tall (a little less than 5'6") so no loss here, you would just over estimate the range and over shoot at long range. Reticle is illuminated red, I prefer green or white, but red works. Scope is also equipped with a sun shade that slides out and retracts to block light from reflecting off of the objective lens. Extend this at night when using the illumination feature as illuminated scopes stand out to night vision. Yes they can see YOU! Kick the illumination on just before you fire, then kick it back off.
I'm very impressed by this scope. For the first time my .308 SVD actually looks and feels like a sniper rifle, rather than a sniper rifle in search of a cool scope. Planning on shooting at any distance, I'd give Scott a call and grab one of these!! It even comes with the scope/action cover for an SVD!! At only $250 its a BARGAIN!
