I picked up my special order Romak from the dealer Friday and had it cleaned and ready for testing this morning. I bought this rifle based on the claims of SVD like accuracy posted on this board. I can only speak for mine, but the accuracy is just not there. Best groups were with Norma 180gr loads and 5 shot groups were 3 to 3.5 inches at 100yards. A 10 shot group was 4.6 inches. With Russian and Chinese military ball (both 148gr) accuracy was 3.5 to 5.0 inches at 100yds. Yellow tip heavy ball was worst, at 6.4 inches for 10 round groups. I cleaned the barrel between groups and kept the barrel cool by slow fire. The fit and finnish of my rifle is very poor. Coarse machining marks are everywhere. This is in no way anything like a sniper rifle. What a joke. At least mine did not blow up and only jammed once in feeding the heavy ball ammo which is pretty good considering I shot 260 rounds through it today. The bore looks nice but I don't think the precision is there. This is no SVD. |
